Care · Cedar shoe trees kit
A cedar shoe trees kit built to keep a good pair of shoes wearable for years, not months.
Two cedar shoe trees sized to the pair, a round horsehair brush and a small tin of neutral wax, packed together as one kit. It is the smallest thing we sell and the one our own staff replace least often.
Cedar pulls moisture out of leather as it cools, which is the actual job of a shoe tree — most of what ruins a good shoe happens overnight, not on the pavement. Ours are cut from solid cedar, left unfinished so the wood keeps its scent and its ability to absorb, and sized in the same 40 to 46 EU range you would ask for at a shoe counter. We do not sell half sizes; buyers between sizes should call and we will tell them straight which way to round.
The horsehair brush handles the daily dust-off. It is stiff enough to lift dried mud off a welt and soft enough not to scuff a calfskin toe. The wax tin holds a neutral polish with no dye, so it works across black, brown and tan leather without a color test.
Why the grain stays bare
Every cedar shoe tree we carry left the mill with sanded faces and nothing else — no lacquer, no stain. A sealed cedar block still looks like cedar but stops working like it within a season; the pores that pull in moisture are the same pores a finish coats over. You will see faint color variation from one tree to the next because it is real wood, not a dyed composite, and that variation is not a defect.
Over time the surface dulls slightly and the cedar smell fades. A light pass with fine sandpaper across the toe block brings both back. We tell callers this on the phone rather than bury it in a manual, because a five-minute refresh once or twice a year is the entire maintenance routine.

Who this suits
Anyone with one or two pairs of leather shoes worth keeping past a single Austin summer. It is not built for sneakers or for a closet of a dozen pairs — at that volume you want trees sold individually, and we will say so if you call asking for six.
We keep the catalog under thirty items on purpose, and this kit is one of the ones every staff member has actually used at home for the required thirty days before it went on the site. If the wax dried out or the bristles shed in that test period, it would not be listed at all.
